21ST CENTURY YOGA CLASS

This is a one hour and fifteen minute class integrating postures, breathing techniques and 15 minutes of silence at the end of class.

Lou starts off with 15 minutes of slow, simple and easy postures to lengthen the spine and muscle fibers. Iyengar and Kriya style is best for this. Iyengar for alignment of the skeleton and Kriya to connect breath with posture.

Then we do 15 minutes of Vinyasa to warm the body and purify toxins through heating the physical body. This is comparable to Ishta, Power and Vinyasa. Please don't expect a very athletic approach. However, the body will be warmed up and challenged to a certain extent that is appropriate in allowing the subtle prana to flow throughout the nadi's.

Then another 15 minutes of slow simple postures. A combination of hands and knees ending with postures done while lying on our back.

The fourth part of the class is 10 minutes of breathing techniques. Some of these are done with hand positions (Mudras) to create specific benefits such as better absorption of calcium or increased confidence.

Lou ends class with 15 minutes of meditation. Meditation is done in silence. He offers AstroVedic meditation at an extra cost of $ 45.00. You can learn this technique an hour before his yoga class start's if requested. Lou is open to students doing their own form of meditation if they already have learned from another teacher or tradition.
